After giving a brief overview of the pedagogical lexicography of Polish as a foreign language, the author examines general monolingual learners’ dictionaries so as to first describe their most important aspects and then offer a general evaluation of the dictionaries in question. The following dictionaries are considered: IsjpK2005, PsjpZ2008, SjpHK1989, SmjpKZ1992, SmjpZ2013 and SpjpBS1999. The aspects under investigation are: target users of the dictionaries, size, mega- and macrostructure, criteria of external selection, used sources, chosen features of the entries, and integrated and non-integrated outer texts as well. The paper shows that the learners’ lexicography of Polish as a foreign language in spite of a relatively large number of the dictionaries in proportion to a rather small group of their prospective users, does not meet the requirements of modern pedagogical lexicography yet.

This article proposes to view lexicographic comparatistics as a collection of methods which are useful in all areas of dictionary research, i.e. systematic dictionary research, historical dictionary research, critical dictionary research, and research on dictionary use. The main aim, however, is to show a close relationship between lexicographic comparatistics and dictionary criticism. The two of the presented methods which, respectively, consist in studying influences in the field of lexicography and conducting various kinds of comparisons, referring to lexicographic theory as well as praxis, can be productively applied in dictionary criticism. Making a claim that within lexicographic comparatistics it is comparison that is the dominant concept, the author analyses two types of lexicographic comparison – the comparison of dictionaries and the comparison of dictionary reviews – both of which can also function as methods of dictionary criticism.

Artykuł przedstawia komparatystykę leksykograficzną jako zbiór metod badawczych, przydatnych we wszystkich obszarach metaleksykografii, tj. w systematycznym, historycznym, krytycznym badaniu słowników jak i w badaniu użycia słowników. Szczególną uwagę poświęca się jednak ścisłym związkom komparatystyki leksykograficznej z krytyką słownikową. Przedstawione metody, czyli badanie wpływów leksykograficznych oraz porównanie, mogą być efektywnie wykorzystane w krytyce słownikowej. Jako że za centralne pojęcie komparatystyki leksykograficznej autorka uważa porównanie, dwa jego typy – porównanie słowników i recenzji słownikowych – zostały tutaj szerzej omówione.

Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird die Bezeichnung lexikographische Komparatistik auf bestimmte Forschungsaktivitäten bezogen, die in allen Gebieten der Wörterbuchforschung, also in der systematischen, historischen, kritischen Wörterbuchforschung sowie in der Wörterbuchbenutzungsforschung, von Belang sind. Das Hauptaugenmerk gilt aber der engen Verbindung zwischen der lexikographischen Komparatistik und der Wörterbuchkritik. Die dargestellten Methoden, d.h. die Erforschung der lexikographischen Einflüsse und der Vergleich, können sehr effizient in der Wörterbuchkritik angewendet werden. Da hier der Vergleich als zentraler Begriff der lexikographischen Komparatistik angesehen wird, werden im Beitrag zwei seine Typen – der Vergleich von Wörterbüchern und von Wörterbuchrezensionen – ausführlicher besprochen.

Status i istota leksykografii. Stanowiska i kontrowersje

The article presents different, often contradictory, opinions on the status and nature of lexicography and discusses, among others, the following issues: is lexicography practice, theory or both? Is lexicography a part of linguistics, applied linguistics, a sub-discipline of lexicology or applied lexicology, or a separate discipline? The main aim of the article is to show how lexicography should be understood both as practice and theory, and that lexicography, whose object of study is a dictionary, is not a part of linguistics, whose object of study is language. According to the author, metalexicography should be considered a separate scientific discipline, while lexicography as a whole, i.e. its practical and theoretical components, can be considered an academic discipline.

W artykule przedstawiono różne, często sprzeczne opinie na temat statusu i istoty leksykografii oraz omówiono m.in. następujące zagadnienia: Czy leksykografia to praktyka, teoria czy też jedno i drugie? Czy leksykografia jest częścią lingwistyki, lingwistyki stosowanej, leksykologii, leksykologii stosowanej czy odrębną dyscypliną? Według autorki leksykografię należy rozumieć jako praktykę i teorię. Leksykografia, której przedmiotem badań jest słownik, nie stanowi części językoznawstwa, którego przedmiotem badań jest język. Metaleksykografia powinna być traktowana jako odrębna dyscyplina naukowa, natomiast leksykografia jako całość obejmująca komponent praktyczny i teoretyczny może być traktowana jako dyscyplina akademicka.

The process of language production is the correct connecting of separate words to bigger meaningful units and eventually the forming of sentences is based on certain rules called combination or compatibility rules. This article focuses on the semantic part of the combination mechanism, because it seems to be the primary one. The syntactic part will be discussed only briefly in the introductory chapter. The investigation encompasses the following aspects: a presentation of mechanisms of syntagmatic lexem connecting, restrictions of selection within word combinations and finally the separation of semantic selection rules from restrictions that are based only on language usage. Such investigations can be very useful for the description of contextual word behavior and consequently for foreign language teaching, especially when these investigations and their results are compared with those in other languages. Breaking the combination rules caused by interference may lead to many semantic-lexical mistakes.

Forms of support for Roma in Poland coming from the European Union revolve mainly around the projects under the Human Capital Operational Programme and on the basis of the Community Initiative Equal Programme. Among the realized projects the special place is occupied by these concerned with the fight against unemployment and with the support of education among the Roma minority. The projects, implemented throughout the years, provide a chance to change the perception of the Roma minority by the society. For the opportunity to participate in a holistic educational process and open access to the labour market seem to be the only way to improve the existing living standards. The advantage of the projects which certainly cannot be overlooked is the fact that the proposed aid enables a change in living conditions of entire Roma families, while respecting their culture, customs and traditions. For only in this way an improvement of the living conditions of the Roma people and a gradual integration with the rest of the society are possible.

Поддерживание традиции с помощей тех организаций позволяет будущим поколениям татар познать историю своих предков.

The presence of the Tatar minority in Poland creates opportunities for the society at large to observe the originality of customs and traditions of this ethnic group. The organizations thus established lay foundations for extensive activities leading to the exposition of the qualities of the Tatar culture. The maintenance of tradition through these organizations gives a chance for future generations of Tatars to learn the history of their ancestors.
