Opisuje proces wzajemnego konstruowania przestrzeni i gender.

Sposób zagospodarowania terenu obok Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej (CSW) w Toruniu to przykład nowego w polskich warunkach modelu prywatyzacji przestrzeni publicznej.

The privatization of the Center of Contemporary Art (CCA) area in Torun allows us to observe relatively new processes in Polish urban reality. The case shows how private-public partnership and place marketing are constructed and how partners combine spheres of culture and commerce to realize the investment. Private investor, using the cultural arguments, tries to create a shopping mall in the recreation area located next to the historical center of the city. The aim of the paper is to analyze the dynamics of the process of privatization and strategies used to privatize the public space in an attractive district of Torun.
Tekst dotyczy polskich przestrzeni kreatywno-warsztatowych typu makerspace. Jednocześnie chciałbym wskazać, że – będąc przestrzeniami wytwarzania – same mogą współtworzyć miasto. Dodatkowym celem opracowania jest redefinicja pojęcia kreatywności w świetle badań nad przestrzeniami warsztatowymi. To istotne zwłaszcza w kontekście studiów miejskich i promowania przedsiębiorczego podejścia do miast.

This paper deals with Polish creative-workshop spaces. Its aim is to consider whether they can effectively function as third places, that is, as social spaces separated from the home and workplace. At the same time, it is also indicated that – being makerspaces – they themselves co-create the city. An additional goal of the paper is to redefine the concept of creativity in light of research on workshop spaces. This is important especially in the context of urban studies and the promotion of an entrepreneurial approach to cities. The text is based on the results of a quantitative-qualitative research project conducted in selected makerspaces, fab labs, and hackerspaces in Poland.
The main subject of this article is the changing status of cities in the contemporary world, and the consequent necessity of creating and implementing coherent urban policies. The authors analyse the changing economical, political and socio‑cultural contexts in macro dimension, which opens new development possibilities for contemporary cities. The authors pay particular attention to the case of Poland, emphasizing the consequences of omissions in the formation of coherent urban policies. In the scenario where there are no such policies, Polish cities become vulnerable to the inconsiderate exploitation of the global capital, as well as to the dominance of short‑term interests of the local political elites undercutting their subjectivity, and thus block the process of the modernization of Poland.

The main goal of the paper is a methodological reflection on telework studies that are realized in the private environment. We reconstruct the process of creating “the story” about telework that started from the “individualistic point” (his/her story) of the teleworker, treated as an individual, and ended up in a “collective point”, that understands telework as a phenomenon that needs to be studied in reference to other local actors (their story) and is influenced by the autoethnographic perspective of the group of researchers (our story).
