Chrześcijaństwo w Chinach – przeszłość, teraźniejszość i przyszłość Chrześcijaństwo dotarło do Chin stosunkowo późno – najwcześniejsze potwierdzone informacje świadczące o obecności chrześcijaństwa na tym terenie pochodzą z VIII w. n.e. Od wieków kulturę chińską kształtowały inne systemy filozoficzno-religijne, chrześcijaństwo nie zawsze było więc rozumiane i akceptowane w Chinach. Mimo to, przetrwało i zyskuje coraz liczniejszą grupę wyznawców. Autorka przedstawia w artykule historię pojawienia się religii chrześcijańskiej w Chinach i drogę jaką chrześcijaństwo przeszło tam na przestrzeni wieków. Ukazuje również trudną sytuację Kościoła Katolickiego w Chińskiej Republice Ludowej w czasach współczesnych. Artykuł pokazuje co sprawiło, że udało się zakorzenić chrześcijaństwo w Chinach, jak odnalazło się ono w chińskiej kulturze oraz ilość jego chińskich wyznawców i roli jaką odgrywa dla nich chrześcijaństwo. Autorka zastanawia się również nad przyszłym rozwojem chrześcijaństwa w kraju, w którym religie i wierzenia rozumiane są inaczej niż w kulturze zachodniej.

Christianity reached China relatively late - the earliest confirmed information about the presence of Christianity in this area dates back to the 8th century AD. For centuries, Chinese culture has been shaped by other philosophical and religious systems, so Christianity has not always been understood and accepted in China. Nevertheless, it has survived and is gaining more and more followers. The article presents the history of the appearance of the Christian religion in China and the way Christianity has fared there over the centuries. It also shows the plight of the Catholic Church in the People’s Republic of China. The article shows what made Christianity survive and put down roots in China, how it found itself in Chinese culture, the number of its followers, and the role Christianity plays for them. The author also reflects on the future development of Christianity in a country where religions are understood differently than in Western culture.

Worshiping the spirits of departed ancestors is an essential element of traditional Chinese beliefs. As time passed, these beliefs underwent many transformations, but the cult of the dead remained a fundamental pillar of Chinese culture, linking the beliefs of the Chinese people from the Neolithic to the present. Thanks to Confucianism, it developed significantly and gained a new meaning, thanks to which it has a significant influence on Chinese society to this day. This article presents the origin and development of ancestor worship, indicates the role of Confucianism in its development, as well as discusses the most important feasts in honor of the dead and funeral rites. In addition, the author drew attention to the political dimension and place of ancestor worship in Chinese culture to this day.

Oddawanie czci duchom zmarłych przodków to istotny element tradycyjnych wierzeń chińskich. Wraz z upływem czasu wierzenia te przechodziły liczne transformacje, kult zmarłych pozostawał jednak niezmiennie podstawowym filarem kultury chińskiej, łączącym wierzenia ludności chińskiej od neolitu aż do teraźniejszości. Dzięki konfucjanizmowi znacznie się rozwinął i zyskał nowe znaczenie, dzięki czemu do dziś ma istotny wpływ na chińskie społeczeństwo. W artykule przedstawiono genezę i kształtowanie się kultu przodków, wskazano rolę konfucjanizmu w jego rozwoju, a także omówiono najważniejsze święta na cześć zmarłych oraz obrzędy pogrzebowe. Ponadto autorka zwróciła uwagę na polityczny wymiar i miejsce kultu przodków w kulturze chińskiej do dzisiaj.
