The article presents results of a survey investigating pay systems operated under collective agreements in the enterprise sector against a backdrop of changes taking place in the external and internal environment of enterprises, also those arising from Poland’s admission to the European Union. The survey’s results indicate that a definite majority of Polish enterprises using such agreements have traditional and simplified pay systems, unadjusted to modern challenges they face. If the enterprises mean to survive in the market, to attract and to maintain good workers, they must start introducing relevant changes in their pay systems to create flexible solutions capable of motivating workers effectively and enhancing enterprise’s growth strategy that encompasses the personnel strategy as well.
