The great battle in January 1945 resulted in the liberation of Bydgoszcz, but also the death of thousands of soldiers on both sides. The battle of Bydgoszcz in 1945 is one of the most forgotten clashes that took place in our region, despite its importance for the campaigns in this part of Poland at the end of WW2. Obviously, this event took many lives and the fallen soldiers were buried in many war cemeteries. This text is an attempt to illustrate these issues, as well as to point attention to the problems associated with investigating such a topic. The war cemeteries are an important reminder of these events. The text presents mainly these cemeteries where the soldiers fighting in Bydgoszcz region at the end of January 1945 were buried.
