The aim of this article is to show the synchronic section of the maritime phraseology of the 18th century on example of the multilingual dictionary Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine by Johann Hinrich Röding. This dictionary contains approximately 5000 lexicographic entries of the seamen’s language. Among them about 100 phrasemes from subject areas such as weather and tides, navigation, shipbuilding, parts of the ship, ship uptake and maintenance, seamen’s everyday life, orders and calls on ships.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest obszerny, czterotomowy słownik Johanna Hinricha Rödinga powstały w Hamburgu u schyłku XVIII w. Jest to dzieło wyjątkowe – pierw¬szy wielojęzyczny słownik terminologii morskiej, wyróżniający się ponadto bogatą iko¬nografią i starannym doborem materiałów źródłowych. Słownik przedstawiono na tle rozwoju leksyki i leksykografii morskiej, a także ówczesnej sytuacji gospodarczo-poli-tycznej. Przeprowadzona została analiza struktury słownika, doboru haseł i ich opraco¬wania. Omówiono akcenty pomorskie i polskie, a także jego popularność i znaczenie dla kształtowania się terminologii morskiej i leksykografii.

Bilingual illustrated and picture dictionaries are an interesting example of a combination of verbal and iconic message. They enable to learn foreign-language lexis in connection with the subject knowledge about the world and the terminology in one’s native language. This is the reason for the growing popularity of this type of lexicographic publications in the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century. In the paper the author presents the analysis of six illustrated or picture Polish-German and German-Polish dictionaries published in the years 1954-2008. They include onomasiological thematic dictionaries as well as semasiological dictionaries with an alphabetical order. The subject of analysis are the structure and the vocabulary range, choice of headwords and their connection with the graphic material, microstructure of entries. The analysis also includes the questions of function and directionality of the dictionaries, as well as the influence of the extralinguistic reality – political and the market reality – on the conception and the design of dictionaries.

Bereits in der Aufklärungszeit entstanden in Deutschland maritime Fachwörterbücher, die einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Verbreitung des nautischen Sach- und Terminologiewissens geleistet haben. Zum Beispiel das mehrsprachige Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine von Johann Hinrich Röding, das ungefähr 5000 Stichwörter umfasst, darunter ca. 100 phraseologische Wortverbindungen aus der Berufswelt der Seefahrer, Marinesoldaten, Schiffbauer und Hafenschiffer. Im Beitrag sollen die folgenden Fragen beantwortet werden: Welche Phraseologismen wurden ins Wörterbuch aufgenommen? Aus welchen Fach- und Kommunikationsbereichen? Wie werden sie in der lexikografischen Makro- und Mikrostruktur lemmatisiert? Und schließlich: Wie viele von diesen Wortverbindungen der Seemannssprache haben der Zeit sowie dem technologischen Fortschritt standgehalten?

Nautical dictionaries in the period of Enlightenment have significantly contributed to the spread of maritime terminology in the society. For example the multilingual dictionary Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine by Johann Hinrich Röding contains approximately 5000 lexicographic entries - including 106 phrasemes used by sailors, shipbuilders or waterfront workers. The aim of this article is to answer following questions: What kind of phrasemes from which subject areas are included in this work? How important are the phrasemes in the macro- and microstructure of the dictionary? How does the author describe and explain their meaning? And finally - are these expressions still used in the contemporary German language or to what extent did the technological and social transformations cause their decline?

Już w epoce Oświecenia powstały w Niemczech słowniki specjalistyczne języka morskiego, które znacząco przyczyniły się do popularyzacji wiedzy i terminologii związanej z żeglugą. Przykładem jest liczący ok. 5000 haseł wielojęzyczny słownik Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine Johanna Hinricha Rödinga. Część hasłowa słownika zawiera 106 artykułów hasłowych poświęconych związkom frazeologicznym, używanym przez ówczesnych ludzi morza – marynarzy, budowniczych okrętów i pracowników portów. Celem artykułu jest ustalenie: Jakie frazeologizmy zostały uwzględnione? Z jakich dziedzin i obszarów komunikacji? Jakie miejsce zajmują w makro- i mikrostrukturze słownika? W jaki sposób autor opisuje i wyjaśnia ich znaczenie? I wreszcie: jak wytrzymały one próbę czasu w obliczu zmian technologicznych i społecznych?
