Patients’ rights have a special character. They relate to the unique situation. The patient reports to the doctor at the time of experiencing suffering, pain, difficulty. Th e doctor has the knowledge and skills of healing. He has the ability to help the patient. Treatment, however, involves entering a necessity in the intimate sphere of human life. Currently, attention is drawn to the necessity of forming partnerships in medicine. However, it seems that a similar situation, it is impossible to completion. At a certain stage of treatment, the patient must “entrust” the person of the doctor. He must trust him. Do patients know, however, own rights? It is also worth considering: Is the future doctors know the patient’s rights? Do students understand how important they are relevant? How do universities prepare future doctors for contact with the patient? Are they in Poland institutions that educate patients in this regard? This article is attempt is made to answer the questions presented.
EN
Paper expounds upon the problem of patient rights, taking particular account of the right to information: on one’s state of health, examination, diagnosis, proposed and practicable diagnostic methods, proposed and practicable medical methods, prognosis. The authors also pinpoint that, in a broader context, free legal aid centres operating under the 2015 Act might face up to issues pertaining to patient rights. An answer is also sought to the question of how the realization of the right to information could be enhanced, and the authors furnish recommendations on the matter.
