W obliczu zmian politycznych, ustrojowych, gospodarczych, kulturowych i cywilizacyjnych fenomen edukacji obywatelskiej stał się nowym wyzwaniem dla obu państw. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje próbę definicji pojęć, wskazuje na uwarunkowania kształtowania się systemu kształcenia politycznego oraz omawia rolę edukacji obywatelskiej, zarówno w Polsce jak i w Niemczech.

Political education, in Germany known as politische Bildung and in Poland as civic education, is crucial for the proper functioning of a society and democratic state. In view of many changes in politics, political systems, economies, cultures and civilizations worldwide, the phenomenon of civic education has come as a new challenge for both Germany and Poland. This article aims to define key notions, explores the conditions necessary for the development of a political education system, and examines the role of civic education in the two countries in question.
