This paper aims to portray a remarkably diverse range of phenomena related to transformations in art: from the transformation of sculptor’s or painter’s matter into a work of art (on the example of works of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci), through the spiritual metamorphosis of the artist whilst creating a piece, up to reciprocal flow of inspirations, feelings, emotions, and consciousness or its absence on the creation of the artefact that shapes the spiritual xperiences of the audience. While engaging with art, those phenomena can also occur with respect to faith by means of an artistic expression of a purely religious character (e.g. Vatican’s monumental and magnificent architecture). “The aging” of a piece of art or restoration activities that block this aging are examples of changes of the matter owing to the technology that changes the perception of the work over time; while, art devoted to glorifying – and inducing – social evolutions and revolutions is in the service of propaganda and politics (e.g. works created in ancient Egypt, the Third Reich, North Korea, the USSR). Artistic visions often depend on the influences of psychoactive substances on the consciousness of the artist and his perception of reality which results in its completely different reception (Witkacy’s portraits). Is such artistic vision created under the influence of substances objective? Where (if at all) in the modern world can we trace boundaries between art and non-art? This text aims to address and answer these questions and doubts.

In the article "About the art of resignation in Art" I try to bring closer the figure of an artist entangled in limitations encountered when working on projects that are a result of creative inspirations and I also try to answer a question about a work of art in the full sense of the word. Is the artist who is a freelancer really a free man? Does a completed work exist? If yes, then what or who decides about it? The Venus de Milo or the Winged Victory of Samothrace are the best examples of classics which by a twist of fate became mutilated in the most beautiful way, because destruction enhanced artistic expression. Picasso by dropping realism lead to cubist revolution which is of great significance for modern history of art. In Poland Henryk Tomaszewski, with a simple and economical form of posters and intellectual 'getting to the graphic point', established a phenomenon of a worldwide reach i.e. the Polish Poster School. When writing about resignation and self-limitation in art, it is worth mentioning censorship and its influence on the development of artists and asceticism as a creative omission of forbidden but not always paradise fruits.

Analising a subject "W soczewce. Wybrane aspekty wizualności w XIX wieku" from a perspective of fine arts, the article addresses a few various threads of interpretation of this phenomenon. One of them belongs to painting and technical side of impressionists, the other – eye defects related to ophthalmology and medicine, having an impact on translation of the real world into an artistic image, while another – a way of looking through the prism of ideological perceptions and interpretations in art. Despite their differences, each is equally important. It can be infinitely many interpretations of reality, which is why it is so difficult to talk about objectivity of looking through individual lens that each of us has from the moment of birth.
