In the article based on novel by Boleslav Prus The doll {Lalka) and its Russian translation we make functional-semantic analysis of lexical explicators of one of the meanings of situational modality - the meaning of necessity. We deal with core and peripheral constituents of the modal micro semantic field of necessity in Russian and Polish. We reveal specific features of their functioning in the original and translated texts of the novel. In the article we define common and typological features of the modal explicators and their intralingual peculiarities. The conclusion is drawn on the degree of adequacy between Russia modal equivalents and corresponding Polish modal modificators which are represented in the original.

W artykule na materiale powieści polskiego pisarza Bolesława Prusa Lalka i jej rosyjskiego przekładu autorka przeprowadza analizę funkcjonalno-semantyczną wykładników leksykalnych jednego ze znaczeń modalności sytuacyjnej - znaczenia konieczności. Rozpatrywane są centralne i peryferyjne elementy tworzące modalne mikropole konieczności w języku rosyjskim i polskim, pokazana jest specyfika ich funkcjonowania w oryginalnym i przetłumaczonym tekście powieści. Ustala się ogólne, typologiczne cechy wykładników modalnych i ich specyficzne właściwości wewnątrzjęzykowe. Wyciąga się wnioski na temat stopnia adekwatności rosyjskich ekwiwalentów modalnych, w stosunku do odpowiadających im polskich modyfikatorów modalnych występują­ cych w oryginalnym tekście powieści.
