The main topic of analysis was status of risk and crisis in the chosen structures of social science theory. Analysis are enrooted mainly in the paradigm of ambivalence. Ambivalence was identified as an element typical for symbolic space of modernity and postmodernity. In this context, ambivalence is treated as an implicated element recognized in studies related to the risk and crisis.

Przedmiotem analiz było ulokowanie podejmowanych w narracji nauk społecznych refleksji dotyczących bezpieczeństwa oraz kryzysu, ryzyka i traumy w kontekście paradygmatu ambiwalencji. Ambiwalencja została przedstawiona jako element typowo występujący w symbolicznej przestrzeni nowoczesności i ponowoczesności, a tym samym jako nieodłączny element podejmowanych w ramach nauk społecznych studiów nad faktami społecznymi zaliczanymi do kategorii ryzyka i kryzysu.

Przedmiotem analizy są wybrane perspektywy teoretyczne charakteryzujące aspekty postaw obywatelskich. W artykule odniesiono się m.in. do klasycznego modelu wzoru demokraty Marii Ossowskiej, kategorii nieposłuszeństwa obywatelskiego Henry’ego Davida Thoreau oraz Hanny Arendt, do filozoficznej perspektywy Józefa Tischnera oraz do wybranych aspektów myśli Paulo Freire’a. Odniesiono się także do specyfiki funkcjonowania obywatela w przestrzeni społeczeństwa ponowoczesnego.

The key object of the analysis presented in this paper is a selection of theoretical perspectives related to the civil attitudes. The attention is focused on: the classical model of democratic attitudes presented by Maria Ossowska, the concept of civil disobedience described by Henry David Thoreau and Hannah Arendt, the philosophical perspective of Józef Tischner and some aspects of Paulo Freire’s thought. The analysis also includes specific conditions of civil functioning in postmodern society.

The topic of analysis are socio-cultural imaginaries of the pandemic. The assumption is that the pandemic may be characterized by reference to the imaginaries and system of knowledge related to the disease as well as is located in modern and postmodern imaginaries of risk, post-Anthropocentrism and trajectory of socio-cultural trauma creation process. The socio-cultural exemplifications of the presented thesis are transmitted by the media representations of the Covid-19 pandemic. The paper is composed of three main parts. The first one analyses the notions of an imaginary and socio-cultural trauma representation, the second part presents in the light of sociological and humanistic theories some selected exemplifications of pandemic representations and the third part is a summary.

The subject of presented analysis is gender treated as a social category entangled in power relations. There are presented main social matrices of the gender-based power practices and it’s institutional and extrainstitutional, structural and individual expressions and consequences. The attention is focused at the classical conceptions of power and the perspectives of using it’s elements in the analysis of gender-based discipline practices in modern and postmodern society. There are also indicated - connected with queer culture - resistance strategies realized by using gender symbols and stereotypically perceived roles.

The paper discusses selected aspects related to the socio-cultural representation of a traumatic experience. It explores the material based on testimonies available in Svetlana Alexievich’s works. Analyzing them, the author refers to Cathy Caruth’s theory of socio-cultural trauma, Neil Smelser’s writings, socially and culturally adapted components of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis and elements of the testimonium theory.

The subject of the analyses undertaken in this article is solidarity with the Other in global society. The first part of the article focuses on the status of the Other (the outline is based on the characteristics presented by Claude Lévi-Strauss, George Simmel, Zygmunt Bauman, Bernhard Waldenfels and Emmanuel Lévinas). The subject of the second part is the category of solidarity – its analysis has been made by referring to the sociological and axiological perspective. In the third part, which is a kind of summary, the ambivalence of the status of the Other in the context of globalization is presented.

The subject of the analyses presented in the paper is the gender category matrices of power and authority, such as: androcentrism, patriarchy and heterosexism. The paper also discusses the selected mechanisms of power and authority practices, such as: arbitrary defining of normal gender identity, classification and segregation. Special focus is put on the category of discourse and ideology as tools of authority practice and its medium enabling power and discipline transmission, reproduction and maintenance.

Przedmiotem prezentowanych a artykule analiz są matryce władzy bazujące na zmiennej płci społecznej. Do matryc tych zaliczono: androcentryzm, model patriarchalny oraz heteroseksizm. W artykule wskazano także na wybrane mechanizmy praktykowania władzy, gdzie jako egzemplifikacje przedstawione zostały: mechanizm normalizacji, klasyfikacji, segregacji i parceleracji. Uwaga zogniskowana została także na kategoriach dyskursu i ideologii traktowanych jako narzędzia praktykowania władzy, oraz jej medium umożliwiające transmisję, reprodukcję i konserwację porządku władzy i dyscypliny.

The analysis covers chosen social (structural, systemic) and psychological determinants of the risk, crisis and trauma. Analysis emphasizes the factors essential from the perspective of activities realized by the representatives of social aid professions. It indicates the main risk factors of crisis and trauma, protective factors and chosen preventive and aid-related strategies realized in the crisis and trauma contexts (related to the different levels of their potential incidence).
