In the article the Taken Lands were presented from the perspective of literature reviewed in the Literature Section of “Kraj” newspaper and the first issues of Literature Review of “Kraj” newspaper published in years 1883-1886. In the article are presented scientific books, fictional literature, and the biographies of writers living in these lands. Additionally these works are reviewed and graded. A total of ten books on the subject of lands taken away were discussed and two biographical notes were included.

The article includes the analysis of the content in the “Literary Section” of the weekly “Kraj” released in Saint Petersburg. The turning point 1906 refers to the revolutionary riots of the Russian Revolution what enables comparing literary content and analyzing it based on the contemporary socio-political events.

The article presents The East Prussia plebiscite, known also as Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle plebiscite and its course from the viewpoint of the “Kurier Poznański” newspaper. It was a daily paper, which presented the National League’s program. The newspaper approved of struggling for incorporation of Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle to the Second Polish Republic and criticised the German attacks on the Poles.

The article presents the image of Warmia and Masurian which was created in Saint Petersburg’s weekly “Kraj”. The chronological frames are related to the events from the foundation of “Kraj” to its closure(1882–1909).
