The manuscript deals with the populism in the context of shadow economy creation and development. The correlation between shadow economy and populism was identified. The index of populism created by Think Tank Timbro was applied, but the size of the shadow economy was calculated based upon MIMIC approach. 28 countries were taken into an account. The typically threats of populism as the impact for shadow economy were presented.

The aim of this article is to present the idea of sustainable development affecting banking sector. Nowadays this conception is regarded as the one of the most important attempts among researches and academics. Since the banking sector plays fundamental role in nearly each economic idea, the Author tried to underline the role of it in sustainable approach. The crucial role of banks in Japan was presented, as well as the changes in Russian market.

The aim of this paper is to present some aspects which are taken into account during the elaboration of the strategy of management of Islamic Banks. Those entities utilize the Koran norms in their strategies of running business. Those norms are totally different from those based in developed countries. Islamic Banks started their business nearly 50 years ago and now they are a key player on the market. If anyone would like to enter this market, they are supposed to cooperate with Islamic Banks.

The aim of this article is verification of Rainer Haselman's thesis, stating that foreign banks operating in local markets do not take into their account macroeconomic situation in the country of origin. The verification was carried on example of Bank WBK S.A. and Irish Group AIB. In the study correlation indicator was used.

This article deals with the phenomenon of organized crime that has emerged as an urgent and serious problem in Poland during the transformation period. The solid background for organized crime group activity was created during the communist time. Due to the strong position of the police (that time called militia), and the security body, organized crime was not so well developed. After 1989, the organized crime groups (OCG) started to be more active, both in the domestic and the international market. The patterns of organized crime group activity were presented. So the main objective of the paper is to reveal the evolution of OCG activities and their scale in Poland. The organized crime groups have proven to be skillful in the exploitation of legal loopholes. The OCG became less violent, and focused more on economic crimes.

The goal of this paper is to present the changes of population structure in coal mining region. Such changes were born by the economic reforms. The study was based on the two typical coal mining regions in Russia and Ukraine. The correlation indicator was used in order to present the study results. The close attention was paid to the factors which reduce the migration. The most important changes were noted among workers in productivity age. They were the most willing to change the place of living and look for a job in other places and different sectors of the economy.

The main task of this study is to show the changes in construction market in Hong Kong. The study is connected with the time of 1990-2002. The construction companies were divided into three groups: foreign, local and Chinese ones. The major role in the 90 played the foreign organizations. In the middle of 90 the Chinese firms took the advantage. The background of this process was examined and presented.

The aim of this paper is to present the role of clusters as an important factor in region's intellectual capital. Special attention was paid to relations capital which develops the intellectual capital not only in the region but in the company as well. The clusters play a very important role in company development in a way of gathering different kinds of organizations, stimulate innovation and help to maintain the relations. The net of clusters connection is based upon the human capital (relation) that helps to create new and more effective relations. The effects are not related to the members of the cluster but to the business environment as well. This relations capital is very important for intellectual regional assets and determines competitiveness.

The aim of this article is to present the factors fostering foreign direct investment in Ukraine. The gravity model was used in order to utilize the aim of the study. This model is based on the principle that the level of FDI between two countries is based on the level of GDP. Additionally if the distance between the countries is quite high, the cost of the foreign trade increases and this is the impulse of foreign direct investment increase. The gravity model was verified in market oriented countries, but there is lack of studies in the transformational economies.

The article presents the idea of the optimal currency area functioning, with particular emphasis on foreign exchange rates. Monetary zone could be regarded as a useful tool to foster integration and economic development. However, this requires close cooperation between the members of such a zone, because there are a number of risks. One of them is the liquidity trap.

Nowadays sport is recognized as a typical business activity, and require well educated and prepared staff. The aim of this article is to identify the modern sport manager competence profile. The possible loops in the existing profiles were foreseen. Also a way of creating a model of competence profiles was described.
