"Captivated by necessity" is an article about the metamorphosis of ideas and stylistics of Constructivism. It deals with the problem of the sense of programme continuation of the assumptions of the historical trend. It contains opinions of two artists (Ryszard Winiarski and Zbigniew Dłubak) associated with the tradition of Constructivist avant-garde. It discusses the issue of shaping the image constructed in perception by human mind, which adds to what is experienced in the process of seeing. From the text: "The play with a differently shaped image of space, its simulation and destabilization become the necessity in the culture of doubts and ambiguities.

This article is aiming to investigate how well-known photographers portray the architecture of modernism. The author discusses different attitudes and visualizations, which can be found at exhibitions presenting objects created in the 1920s and 1930s. The author is not interested in classical documentation but in creative photography, in images whose character springs from their individually understood minimalist form. Going back in time, he shows how this form was born in Bauhaus and Constructivism, and how, differently, it was used by artists associated with the Neue Sachlichkeit. Against this background, he shows examples of the latest approaches.
