Grand Boulevards of Culture. Pedagogical Tropes of the Hierarchy and the Classics In our world, information is the problem, not a solution. It is increasingly difficult to separate the important from the petty affairs, the creative, authentic contents and activities from the appearance of the advertised. The eminent American scholar George Steiner point out the necessity of the hierarchy, the canon, the cultural impact of the masters. Confrontation with the sophisticated creations of the human spirit is a kind of hygiene of attention and reaction. Maturation of personality requires justifiedoverwhelming effect which can be possible in serious treatment of the classics. Without their stories, man is walled up in a vacuum. How could we pick the significant voices from the informational downpour? What may prove to be helpful—in addition to the clues in the work of Steiner—are such categories as Leszek Kolakowski’s the great philosopher, Leo Strauss and Allan Bloom’s Great Books, Hans-Georg Gadamer or Thomas Stearns Eliot’s classicisms, Tadeusz Sławek’s the master of the difficult speech, or Lech Witkowski’s symbolic authority. From a pedagogical point of view this is a sensitive issue. What is at stake is the choice between the opening and burying the human sensitivity and reflection.
Kontekstem tych rozważań będzie jakość sfery publicznej niepodległego państwa i towarzyszący jej cień tyranii. Tyranom nie przeszkadzają ci, którzy nie czytają, ani ci, którzy czytają̨ płytko i w pośpiechu.

This is an attempt to reflect on the dimensions of the practice of reading in the margins of the book about the books by Helena Radlińska, one of the greatest animators of andragogical reflection. At its centre, I place a doubt as to whether we are already (or still) able to read. The context of these considerations will be the quality of the public sphere of an independent state and the shadow of tyranny accompanying it. Those who do not read, or those who read in a shallow and hurried manner do not disturb tyrants.
Tekst zwraca uwagę na istotną, ale rzadko rozważaną kwestię pedagogiczną. Przebaczenie to jedno z kluczowych egzystencjalnych doświadczeń związanych z rozwojem tożsamości. Istnieje pokusa, by krzywdę i odwet czynić centrum tożsamości. Tekst pokazuje dialektyczne napięcia zachodniej tradycji opisu przebaczenia między niewybaczalnym a radykalnym przebaczeniem wszystkiego, wymogiem skruchy a wybaczeniem bezwarunkowym, społecznym pojednaniem a indywidualnym szaleństwem niemożliwego, logiką równoważności a logiką nadmiaru. Przebaczenie "czyste" to implozja zła. A to jest jeden z najważniejszych i najtrudniejszych mechanizmów transformacji osobowości człowieka.

The text draws attention to the important pedagogical issue, but rarely contemplated. Forgiveness is one of the crucial existential experiences in the development of identity. There is a temptation to make a harm and a revenge the center of identity. The text shows the dialectical tension in Western tradition of forgiveness between the unforgivable and the radical forgiveness of everything; between a requirement of the repentance and an unconditional forgiveness; between a social reconciliation and an individual madness of the impossible, and between a logic of the equivalence and a logic of the excess. Pure forgiveness is the implosion of the evil. And this is one of the most important and most difficult contrivances of transformation of the human personality.

The divergence trend in cognition and education is so strong that instead of an image in high definition we cease to see the reality as a meaningful whole. Therefore, it is the time of blurred genres and interdisciplinary research. However, pedagogy hardly copes with the postulate of interdisciplinarity. The breakdown into research plots and specializations blocks the question about multidimensional education. The problem is even more serious. Interdisciplinarity also has adverse consequences, which brings on the need to change the academic culture. Transdisciplinarity makes a higher level of interdisciplinarity as a change in the epistemological status of the individual humanities. In that context, philosophical pedagogy is not just a part of pedagogy, but it is an internal transdisciplinary movement in pedagogy.
