Contemporarily the necessity of regarding the knowledge of brain structure and functions in the didactic processes is more and more frequently discussed. Neurodidactics, as a cross-disciplinary science is engaged in the learning and education process which is based on the results of research on brain functioning. One of the non-invasive methods that can provide us with knowledge on brain functioning is the research carried out with an eye-tracker, a device used for tracing eyeball movements of a tested person. This paper will present a part of the research in which the eye-tracking technology has been used. The aim of the presented research was an attempt to analyse the depth of information processing by a pupil during solving a mathematical test task. The research results point to certain characteristic pupils’ behaviour while making decision concerning the choice of an answer marked by them.

Artykuł jest kontynuacją badań eye-trackingowych dotyczących zastosowań pupilometrii do celów analizy subiektywnej oceny poziomu trudności zadań oraz obciążenia poznawczego u badanych osób podczas rozwiązywania zadań [Rosiek, Sajka 2014]. Analizie poddane zostały reakcje źrenic uczniów gimnazjum podczas rozwiązywania zadania. W artykule przedstawiono szczegółową analizę reakcji pupilometrycznych wybranych dwóch grup uczniów: uzdolnionych w kierunku nauk ścisłych oraz uczniów osiągających najniższe wyniki nauczania z tych przedmiotów. Dokonana została próba porównania tych reakcji.

The paper is a continuation of the eyetracking research on using pupilometry for the analysis of students’ subjective assessment of the level of task difficulty and for diagnosis of their cognitive load during the process of problem solving [Rosiek, Sajka 2014]. The diameters and changes of the pupil size of chosen middle school students were measured. The article includes a detailed analysis of the reactions of the pupil size in selected two groups of students: gifted in science, and achieving the lowest results in these subjects. The attempt was made to compare these reactions.
