This article explores the process of providing social and solidarity economy (SSE) in transition to sustainable development. The notion of sustainability as the state of the triad of three interrelated and interdependent systems: socio-economic, biological human nature, ecological is grounded.It reveals the meaning and content of SSE. It reveals the principles that underlie the functioning of solidarity economy structures and experience to ensure SSE in the EU.It explores the experience of the internal networks of the European initiatives on morality, national solidarity and territorial networks in Europe and Intercontinental network promoting SSE. The article grounds the necessity to use the experience of the European Union to ensure sustainable development in terms of development SSE projects, which in turn would contribute to solving urgent social, economic and environmental problems.

This article explores economic and financial instruments for sustainable regional development. The article shows the value of economic and financial instruments in shaping strategies for sustainable regional development and environmental policies. It defines sustainable development indicators used globally and in the European Union. The article suggests sustainable development indicators for Ukraine. Approaches to financing sustainable development strategies in Ukraine are shown. It tackles the necessity of applying the best practices of the European Union in the formation of economic instruments system for Ukraine’s environmental policy within the framework of Association with the EU regarding sustainable development. It would contribute to solving complex regional environmental and economic problems.

The article analyses current issues of socio-cultural transformations for the “culture of sustainability” based on equal access to municipal services for all citizens, nurturing the “sharing economy”, “collaborative economy” and other approaches that combine the ideas of entrepreneurship, civic engagement and societal transformation. It reflects the socio-economic transformations targeted at the formation of decentralized renewable energy production, local food production, innovative transportation concepts, new approaches to social services and many other innovations, development towards a circular economy. The article also highlights the technological transformations that support the necessary socio-cultural and socio-economic transformations and serve the interest of citizens and society.

It tackles the actual problems of the transfer of innovation, the transition to renewable sources of energy and resources, adaption to accelerating change, dissemination and popularization of scientific knowledge, economic, social and environmental transformations, etc. It also stresses the importance of international science for the benefit of the whole society.
