Celem niniejszego opracowania jest zapoznanie Czytelnika z najważniejszymi zagadnieniami w obszarze zarządzania projektami, skoncentrowanymi przede wszystkim na definicji, charakterystyce i rodzajach projektów. Artykuł umożliwi Czytelnikowi rozróżnienie projektów od ogółu działań podejmowanych przez organizacje, a także wyjaśni, w jaki sposób, za pomocą znanych kryteriów, można uporządkować zróżnicowany zbiór projektów. Podstawową metodą badawczą jest analiza opracowań naukowych ( pozycji zwartych, studiów i artykułów naukowych) poświęconych problematyce zarządzania projektami, zarówno krajowych, jak i zagranicznych. Dodatkowo sięgnięto do źródeł internetowych.

The aim of this paper is to familiarise the reader with key issues related to project management, with particular stress on the definition, characteristics and types of projects. This paper will help the reader to differentiate projects from a whole range of other activities undertaken in organisations as well as explaining how a diversified collection of projects can be arranged accordingly with the use of particular criteria. An analysis of resource materials (papers, studies and scientific papers) discussing project management related problems, both in Poland and in foreign countries, constitutes the main research method used to achieve that purpose. The author has also consulted a number of online resources.
