Kandydaci do wolontariatu – przykład Hospicjum św. Łazarza w Krakowie

Pełnienie funkcji wolontariusza medycznego w hospicjum jest związane z posiadaniem bardzo specyficznych umiejętności. Z jednej strony są to umiejętności praktyczne, związane z pielęgnacją terminalnie chorego, z drugiej zaś predyspozycje psychologiczne. Należą tu: dojrzałość osobowa charakteryzująca się między innymi znajomością siebie, świadomością własnego stosunku do śmierci ogólnie, do śmierci bliskich osób i do śmierci własnej, odpowiedni poziom zdrowia psychicznego pozwalający na pomaganie innym w sytuacji granicznej jaką jest umieranie, jak również towarzyszenie w umieraniu komuś najbliższemu. Przygotowanie nowych wolontariuszy odbywa się na kursie wolontariuszy, po nim odbywają się rozmowy z psychologiem oraz koordynatorem zespołu wolontariuszy. Rozmowy te mają na celu poznanie predyspozycji konkretnego kandydata do pełnienia funkcji wolontariusza medycznego, czyli wolontariusza pracującego przy chorym terminalnie w domu lub też na oddziale stacjonarnym. Artykuł przybliża w jaki sposób odbywa się weryfikacja wolontariuszy w Hospicjum św. Łazarza w Krakowie. Zostanie ona zaprezentowana na podstawie przykładowych jej wyników i wniosków z ostatnich trzech naborów do zespołu wolontariuszy.

Performing medical volunteer function in hospice is connected with the having very specific skills. Practical skills are this from one side, connected with nurturing patient of hospice. From second meanwhile certain psychological predispositions are this. First personal maturity being characterizing among others the acquaintance oneself, the consciousness of the own relation to the death generally, to close persons death and to the own death. Earlier meanwhile certain the level of the psychical health allows to help different in the border situation what there is dying, how also accompanying in dying someone the closest. Certain practical knowledge is presented and verified at them in the course of preparation of the new volunteers of hospice. This is holds within the volunteers course. After the course meanwhile conversations are hold with psychologist and the coordinator of volunteers team. Conversations these have on the aim distinguishing predispositions of the concrete candidate to performing the medical volunteer function, that is the working volunteer near ill in the hospice at the home or also on the stationary department. The article shows how volunteers verification is holds in Hospitium st. Lazar in Cracow. This verification will be presented on basis of example her results and conclusions from last three recruitments to volunteers team conducted within two last two years.

Hospice volunteering is s special kind of voluntary service. According to research, an average age of hospice volunteers is higher that an average age of volunteers in other types of voluntary services (Przewłocka, 2011; Seredyńska, 2018). However, it does not mean that there are no young persons in hospices, especially when one remembers that contact with the sick and dying allows people to realize the most important things in life and to gain a more realistic view of their limitations. So, it can be said that the environment of hospice voluntary service offers valuable upbringing and educational opportunities. The paper is based on the analysis of subject literature and address several upbringing and educational aspects connected with the environment of hospice voluntary service. These aspects include the analysis of hospice volunteering which educates for accepting: the central position of God in human life, death as an integral part of life, weaknesses and limitations in the maturing process, and the attitude of ‘imagination of mercy’ towards the sick and dying. Other educational and upbringing environments do not confront a person with these aspects of life to such an extent.

Między ujarzmiającym a wyzwalającym – o autorytecie Kościoła wychowującego z wierzącymi

Podział na autorytet wyzwalający i ujarzmiający wskazuje na dynamikę oddziaływania autorytetu na osoby uznające ten autorytet. Kościół katolicki w Polsce cieszy się dużym autorytetem. Jaki jednak jest autorytet Kościoła według wierzących katolików: wyzwalający czy ujarzmiający? Podstawą dla wyprowadzanych wniosków są wyniki ankietowych badań sondażowych oraz wywiadów fokusowych przeprowadzonych wśród studentów i pracowników naukowych uczelni katolickiej. Wnioski z badań pozwoliły zdeniować dwa różne problemy. Pierwszy wskazują młodzi wierzący, którzy oczekują Kościoła wyzwalającego, a zderzają się z przejawami tego ujarzmiającego. Drugi problem stanowi grupa wierzących, którzy nie umieją bądź nie chcą podejmować ryzyka decydowania i od duchownych oczekują instrukcji „co myśleć” i „co robić”. Akceptują w ten sposób autorytet ujarzmiający Kościoła, który utrwala ich niedojrzałość osobową.

The distinction between coercive and emancipatory authority points to the dynamics of the influence of authority upon the person who recognizes it. The Catholic Church in Poland enjoys great authority but what sort of authority is it, in the opinion of faithful Catholics, a liberating or an enslaving one? The conclusions will be based on the results of questionnaire surveys and focus interviews conducted among the students and academic staff of a Catholic university. The analysis of the survey results enabled us to define two different problems. The first is signaled by young believers who expect an emancipatory Church but are confronted with the manifestations of a coercive one. The second problem is a group of believers who are unable or unwilling to take the risk of decision-making and expect the clergy to instruct them “what to think” and “what to do”. Thus they accept the coercive authority of the Church thus fixing their personal immaturity.
