The author of the paper elaborates on a thesis of impotence of social sciences as challenged in practice. He analyses the grounds for this state of affairs through different aspects. The author emphasizes the comparison of social sciences to exact sciences, highlighting in particular the negative effects of abusing quantitative methods by the first of the two.

Autor artykułu stawia i rozwija tezę o impotencji nauk społecznych wobec wyzwań praktyki. Wieloaspektowo analizuje przyczyny takiego stanu rzeczy. Kładzie nacisk na porównanie nauk społecznych z naukami ścisłymi, uwypuklając między innymi negatywne skutki nadużywania przez te pierwsze metod ilościowych.
