The migration crisis, which intensified after 2015, forced the European Union to take measures to adapt its agencies to the new tasks ahead. The article describes the path that Frontex has gone through in adapting to the requirements placed on it in the current migration crisis. The author shows the essence of the functioning of Frontex before 2015 and the changes that have occurred in the subsequent years of its operation. The article is largely based on the data presented in the Special Report, "Frontex support for the management of external borders – insufficient effectiveness has been ensured so far" prepared by the European Court of Auditors.

Kryzys migracyjny, do którego nasilenia doszło po 2015 roku, wymusił na Unii Europejskiej podjęcie działań celem przystosowania swoich agencji do nowych, czekających je zadań. Artykuł opisuje drogę, jaką przeszła agencja Frontex, dostosowując się do wymagań stawianych wobec niej w dobie zaistniałego kryzysu migracyjnego. Autorka ukazuje istotę funkcjonowania Fronteksu przed 2015 rokiem oraz zmiany w kolejnych latach jego funkcjonowania. Artykuł w znacznej mierze bazuje na danych przedstawionych w sprawozdaniu specjalnym Wsparcie Frontexu na rzecz zarządzania granicami zewnętrznymi – do tej pory nie zapewniono wystarczającej skuteczności, opracowanym przez Europejski Trybunał Obrachunkowy.
