The article argues that the concept of treasure, perceived as various kinds of hidden things (not always of much financial value), can be recognized as one of mnemotoposes, following the meaning attributed to this term by Stefan Bednarek, of the inhabitants of Lower Silesia. Treasure, in my opinion, is a topos of the communicative memory of the people living in the region. It is also present at the founding level (cultural – J. Assmann) of the collective memory of the community. Treasure bridges the gap between the communicative memory of the people inhabiting Lower Silesia at present and the cultural memory of the past inhabitants of the region.

The goal of the project was to describe transformations of the soundscape of Wrocław and the role it played in the institutional, artistic and everyday life of the city’s inhabitants. Although the grant application was unsuccessful, the project has defined one of the research areas explored by the Studio.

The concept of soundscape put forward by Raymond Murray Schafer and modi fied in various forms by other researchers offers a very interesting perspective for the reflection on the specificity of the modes of experiencing the city, esta blishing relationships with it, developing a sense of putting down roots and recognizing its identity. This article presents Robert Losiak’s interpretation of soundscape and demonstrates its value for urban research.
