This article describes issues connected with the crisis management, its essence and stages in relation to the crisis situation of the flood. There are four phases of crisis management prsented: prevence, preparation, reaction and reconsctruction in the context of the flood that happened in Poland in 1997 and its consequences.
In this publication the Author presents one of the modern management conceptions, often called management philosophy, namely: Business Processing Reengineering (BPR). The interest in the topic was aroused from the fact, that it is a management conception, which - according to the Author - should find general application, because it squares with the present time to a larger extent than so far applied continuous process improvement. The inspiration and main source material is a book written by a group of scientists from Wroclaw University of Economics edited by Mieczysław Przybyła: Organisation and management.
