The topics which are introduced nowadays within the subject ’Education for Family Life’ are determined by the Regulation of the Minister of National Education of 17th February, 2012 (the Journal of Laws, 2012, No 300). In 2008 WHO Regional Office for Europe, Federal Office for Health Education and WHO Collaborating Centre for Sexual and Reproductive Health in Cologne appointed a group of experts from Europe to develop ’Standards of Sex Education in Europe’. In the standards, developed in 2010, efforts were made to take into account all the aspects of human sexuality. The attention was drawn to the necessity of educating students within the area of attitudes and skills essential for proper psychosexual development and classified as protective factors against undertaking risk sexual behaviours. The aim of the paper was to present the evaluation of the implementation of the subject content (’Education for Family Life’) in junior high schools as well as to compare the course content realized in Poland with the content included in the ’Standards of Sex Education in Europe’.

The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of questions related to risk‑taking behaviour among adolescents in Poland. First, the authors present the basic theoretical concepts concerning the formation and maintenance of risky behaviour in adolescence. They also describe the changes that occurred in recent years in the approach to the prevention of risky behaviour and the role of health education in preventive actions. Next, the authors look at the data on risky behaviour taken by adolescents and assess its usability. In the final section, they discuss selected results of actions against risk behaviours among Polish adolescents.

The aim of this paper is to present the patterns of the health behaviour in adolescents from Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia). The data concerning 5,588 15-year-old students were used, surveyed during the 2009/10 school year within HBSC study (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children). Five clusters with different behaviour patterns were found. The most positive model (high level of physical activity and a low level of risk behaviours) was found in 35.6% of adolescents from those countries. However, in 26.7%, relatively high physical activity co-exists with a high or very high level of risk behaviours. In all the countries, more negative models can be found in poor families and students with poor academic achievements. Adolescents categorised into more positive behaviour patterns are more satisfied with their lives. Members of different clusters should be approached with different prevention programmes, taken into account the specifics of each country.
