Ziel des Artikels ist es, die Art und Weise der Entlehnung deutscher Personennamen durch Polen in der Zeitspanne vom 12.-14. Jh. zu zeigen. Das Belegmaterial stammt aus Słownik staropolskich nazw osobowych (Wörterbuch der altpolnischen Personennamen), das z.Z. nur Lemmata von A bis L umfaßt. Deutsche Personennamen kamen zu uns teilweise mit der Christianisierung, z.T. aber auch während der großen deutschen Kolonisation vom 13.-14. Jh. Deutsche Namen und Spitznamen wurden dem polnischen Sprachsystem angepaßt durch: 1) Anwendung polnischer Flexionsregeln, wie z.B. Biernata, Frycowi, Dadfrydem, Hagerowej usw.; 2) polnische Derivationsaffixe: Gierlaszyc, Hamplewa, Bornbachowic. Kuncak. Dederek, Bernasz. Ernusza u.ä; 3) phonetische Angleichung an die damals geltenden polnischen Ausspracheregeln: Bertold> Biertolt, Gotfrid>Gotprzyd/Gotfryd, Ewart> Jewart usf.; phonetische und morphologische Substitution: Vri Dank> Frydanek, Hering> Harynek, Gering>Gerąg u. dgl.
