The article focuses on language skill development in the process of teaching Polish as a second language based on the example of an argumentative essay. It also includes theoretical remarks on the text-making competences of those learning Polish to the B2 and C1 levels, whilst a scenario proposed in the practical part of the article demonstrates how to combine exercises from different skill groups during classes, i.e. writing and speaking, reading and listening. What is more, it presents selected techniques of teaching Polish as a second language.

Artykuł poświęcony jest pamięci Henryka Kurczaba (1930–2022), związanego w rzeszowską polonistyką dydaktyka literatury i języka polskiego, twórcy koncepcji integracji kształcenia polonistycznego, profesora Wyższej Szkoły Pedagogicznej i Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego. Szkic ma charakter wspomnieniowy, obejmuje zarys życia i biografię naukową Profesora, a także różne formy jego aktywności twórczej. W eseju o nachyleniu aksjologicznym, opartym na reminiscencjach, splatają się trzy wątki: osobisty, biograficzny i bibliograficzny.

The paper is dedicated to the memory of Henryk Kurczab (1930-2022), a teacher of Polish literature and language associated with the Rzeszow polonology Department of Polish Language, the creator of the concept of integration of Polish language education, professor at the Higher School of Pedagogy and the University of Rzeszow. The sketch is a collection of memories, covering the span of the Professor’s life and his academic biography, as well as various forms of his creative activity. In the paper with an axiological slant, based on reminiscences, three threads intertwine: personal, biographical and bibliographical.
