Celem rozważań jest podkreślenie wagi, analiza i ocena szczególnie istotnych kompetencji współczesnego nauczyciela, głównie komunikacji, a także asertywności. Autorki, w nawiązaniu do różnych źródeł, udowadniają, że szczególną rolę w procesie kształtowania dobrych, pozytywnych relacji między nauczycielem i uczniem odgrywa komunikacja. W pierwszej części artykułu autorki wskazują, że właściwa komunikacja jest spoiwem każdej szkoły, pozwala na efektywne funkcjonowanie zarówno placówki edukacyjnej, jak i poszczególnych klas czy grup uczniów, wpływa na poczucie przynależności do danego środowiska i zachęca wszystkich – nauczycieli, uczniów oraz dyrektora i rodziców do wspólnego działania. W następnej części artykułu autorki podkreślają, że nauczyciel w XXI wieku powinien posiadać aktualną, uzupełnianą na bieżąco wiedzę na temat skutecznych sposobów komunikowania się ze wszystkimi pokoleniami. Mając na uwadze różnice pokoleniowe, nie ma takich możliwości, aby współcześnie stosować te same rozwiązania komunikacyjne w edukacji jak obowiązujące wcześniej. W ostatniej części artykułu autorki zwracają uwagę, że każdy uczeń ma prawo do wyrażania swoich opinii, potrzeb, uczuć, poglądów. Asertywność we wzajemnych relacjach nauczyciel-uczeń ma duży wpływ na kształtowanie i promowanie właściwych postaw, z poszanowaniem praw drugiego człowieka, przede wszystkim z akceptacją jego prawa do samodzielności w wyrażaniu własnego stanowiska w danej sprawie. W nawiązaniu do licznych źródeł autorki udowodniły, że komunikacja i asertywność to bardzo ważne kompetencje współczesnego nauczyciela, które mają duży wpływ na efektywność nauczania.

An aim of considerations is to emphasise the importance, an analysis and evaluation of the core competencies of the contemporary teacher, mainly communication as well as assertiveness. The authors, referring to various sources, prove that a particular role in the process of formation of good, positive relations between the teacher and the student is played by communication. In the first part of their article, the authors indicate that proper communication is the glue of every school, allows for an effective functioning of both the educational institution and individual classes or groups of students, affects the sense of affiliation to a given community, and encourages all, teachers, students as well as the headmaster and parents, to common activities. In the next part of their article, the authors emphasise that the teacher of the 21st century should have up-to-date, currently supplemented knowledge of the effective ways of communication with all generations. Taking into consideration the generation-specific differences, it is not possible to apply contemporarily the same communication solutions in education as were in force earlier. In the last part of the article, they pay attention that every student has the right to express their opinions, needs, feelings, and views. Assertiveness in mutual relations between the teacher and the student has a major impact on the formation and promotion of relevant attitudes, observing the rights of another human being, first of all, accepting their right to independence in expressing their own stance on a given issue. Referring to numerous sources, the authors have proved that communication and assertiveness are the core competencies of the contemporary teacher, which have their impact on effectiveness of teaching.
