The present study shows social-ethical aspects of cooperation between the State and the Church for protection of the rights of the family. The analyzed issues are presented in the light of the following problems: 1. Relations between the State and the Church; 2. The right of the family of active participation in the life of the national and the Church communities. Relations between the State and the Church based on cooperation and mutual respect of the autonomy of each result in protection of the rights of the family in the democratic society.

In the context of the protection of human rights in the contemporary world is noticed a necessity of the protection of the family rights in the democratic state of law. The described study is taking this issue in the light of the following problems: 1. Democratic system of the state to the measure of the dignity and value of the family; 2. Subjective rights of the family on the public-legal field; 3. State as a subject of duties in relation to the family rights.

Children's rights, like women's rights, should be treated as human rights. The basic right of the child, together with the right to life, is the right to food and freedom from hunger. However, it appears that securing the children's rights is one of the important global issues in the contemporary world. Statistics report alarming information about starving children, among whom 15 million human beings die from hunger every year. The issue is undoubtedly important in the context of broad global problems facing the world today. At the same time it reflects the need to protect human rights, starting from the most vulnerable human beings, namely children deprived of the possibility to live and develop. The present study considers these matters in the context of the following issues: 1. Children's rights protection in the international documents; 2. Children's hunger as a global problem; 3. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the struggle against hunger and malnutrition among children; 4. Social justice and solidarity as the basis for anti-hunger campaign in the world.

This article refers to research that has been carried out in Poland in 2010-2012 in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for the Family. The study concerned the family and its functioning in the social conditions in Poland. Their goal was to diagnose the needs of families, the possible areas of support and to answer the question how the present family is resource for civil society. Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, defines the family as marriage of woman and man which have children. This definition should be perceived in the context of the Church's social teachings, the teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI in particular. In the sociological approach, the whole society is based on the family, which is understood as the most important basic social group, as an intimate relationship, based on mutual feeling, cooperation and mutual responsibility; reinforcement of the internal relations and interactions are the main focus of the family. According to the systemic approach, the family should be treated as a system, in which a change in his one part brings on a change in its other parts. The presented study is considering the issues concerning the family as a social institution in the context of the following main points: 1. Family – sociological approach; 2. The idea of civil society; 3. Spheres of civil society.

Artykuł odnosi się do badań, które zostały przeprowadzone w Polsce w latach 2010-2012 we współpracy z Papieską Radą ds. Rodziny. Badania dotyczyły rodziny i jej funkcjonowania w warunkach społecznych w Polsce. Ich celem było zdiagnozowanie potrzeb rodzin, możliwych obszarów wsparcia i odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób obecna rodzina stanowi bogactwo społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Katechizm Kościoła katolickiego, definiuje rodzinę jako małżeństwo kobiety i mężczyzny posiadających dzieci. Definicja ta powinna być postrzegana w kontekście nauki społecznej Kościoła, nauczania Jana Pawła II, a w szczególności Benedykta XVI. W ujęciu socjologicznym całe społeczeństwo opiera się na rodzinie, która jest rozumiana jako najważniejsza podstawowa grupa społeczna oparta na intymnej relacji zbudowanej na wzajemnym uczuciem, współpracy i wzajemnej odpowiedzialności; wzmocnienie stosunków wewnętrznych i interakcji są głównym celem rodziny. Zgodnie z podejściem systemowym, rodzina powinna być postrzegana jako system, w którym zmiana jednego elementu prowokuje zmiany w innych jego częściach.
