AbstractMuch has been said on the causes and consequences of violence in multiple academic analyses and reflections. This work will highlight three important aspects. The first is the reason why in Central America a substantial portion of the world’s violence is generated. The second is that the existing measurement of violence and its side effects is uneven and difficult to interpret due to the lack of coincidence and correlation of data. Finally, a third section refers to the reasons why many authors have presented certain activities, such as drug trafficking, organized crime, illegal possession and use of weapons, etc., as causes of the high levels of violence. This paper starts with the assumption that the causes of violence are reduced and limited to the lack of justice.
