The objective of the article is to present the extent of tourism development in the West Pomeranian Voivodship in contrast with the data concerning the whole country. That is why the numbers of domestic and foreign tourists using accommodation facilities in 1998 and 2011 are presented. The data given prove that the West Pomeranian Voivodship still holds the first position in Poland. Because of this reason it is sometimes called one of the most attractive tourist regions in Poland by some politicians and leaders. The article also presents the spatial variety of tourist movement as far as the county structure is concerned, the phenomenon of seasonality and the actual extent to which the tourist facilities are used.

One of the characteristic features of unemployment in Poland is a strong spatial diversification of that phenomenon. The main objective of this paper is to illustrate changes in the unemployment rate in provinces as well as (urban and rural) districts between 2008 and 2013. A thorough analysis has confirmed a dramatic difference in the intensity of unemployment in the individual districts of the country. The unemployment rate in urban districts in 2013 differed by over 24 percentage points, while in rural districts in the analysed period that spread amounted to 30%. The analysis shows that the growth of the unemployment rate in Poland was profoundly affected by the global economic crisis and other factors. The research has confirmed that unemployment is a major social problem which affects all regions of the country to a varying extent.

Certain regions or countries attract and succeed in retaining the existing demographic potential. Others undergo stagnation or even regress, which in extreme situations can lead to depopulation. This issue is important, as it is the inhabitants of given territories that initiate and create certain activities, values and changes in their environment. Today, attracting, retaining, developing and maintaining employees present a particularly difficult challenge, with migrations making it even more difficult. The paper addresses the issues of selected aspects of the development of human capital in the face of foreign migrations with Poland as an example. Human capital is shaped by multiple factors. Itis a complex process. The aim of this paper is to show the effects of foreign migrations in the practice of human resource management. On the one hand, management theoreticians and practitioners emphasize an increasing importance in the use of human capital; on the other hand, its waste can be seen in many situations.
