The benefits of e-learning have been widely established. These benefits include reduced costs, time savings, flexibility, accessible learning, and convenience. Due to such benefits, it has attracted business, industry, the professions, and of course educational institutes to begin using this platform either to supplement traditional teaching strategies or offer it as a complete substitute for them. The benefits of teaching with case studies are also well-recognized. Working with real world situations helps provide both students and workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to better understand concepts and practices. Combining the two approaches enables educators to take advantage of the benefits of both teaching methods and better prepare their students/trainees for the challenges of the modern workplace. This article examines the benefits of using case studies in an electronic learning environment and makes suggestions about how case studies can be used.
