Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie kategorii tożsamości narodowej jako tej, która kształtowana jest w pierwszej, najważniejszej społeczności wychowującej, jaką jest rodzina. Nastawienie badaczy szukających odpowiedzi na pytanie „Kim jesteśmy?” i dociekających struktury tożsamości stało się kluczowe dla poznania w naukach społecznych. Tożsamość stanowi problem egzystencjalny, stąd zasadne jest przybliżenie znaczenia rodziny w procesie kształtowania tożsamości narodowej w warunkach towarzyszących jej przemian społeczno-kulturowych.

The purpose of this article is to introduce a category of identity, including a national identity which is formed in the first instance in the most important institution – a family. An attitude of the researchers who investigate the structure of identity, and those who search for an answer to the question: “Who are we?” has become crucial to a cognition in social sciences. Identity is an existential problem therefore it is relevant to introduce the value of a family affected by a socio-cultural transition in shaping the national identity.
