AThe article deals with capacity verbs, defined as verbs expressing the ability of the left-hand complement to perform the action described by the underlying verb. The following problems are discussed: 1. The aspect of capacity verbs. 2. Their usage in reference to non-actual actions only, or to a concrete action as well. 3. The appropriateness of distinguishing them from other verb classes. 4. The 'ability' meaning of their u- prefix. 5. Their membership in the class of Aktionsart verbs (procedurals). Also included is a polemical reaction to F. Sticha's article on verbal adjectives ending in -ci (udelajici), published in the SaS in 2008.
This article briefly treats the system of Czech verbal aspect. The author touches upon several important matters which have been the subject of research on Czech verbal aspect. The text contains the following sections: 1. basic delimitation of the aspectual category; 2. two types of verbal pairs; 3. the task of prefixation (or verbal prefixes) in the system of verbal aspect; 4. biaspectual verbs; 5. aspectual non-parity.
