The discourse on Polish-German relations is redefined after every event which shapes this discourse and makes it spectacular. Undoubtedly, the two events of division and unification of Germany co-create it. The attitude of Poles towards these events, taking into account the permanence of the border on the Oder and the Nysa rivers, had a great influence on the Polish-German relations in the years 1949-1990. This very issue is the major focus of the considerations in the present article.
