Background. The main objective of the study was to determine the hierarchy of significance of selected criteria of goal scoring skills which influenced the success of play of selected soccer teams in one of the qualification groups of the UEFA European U-21 Championship. Another objective was to assess the goal scoring skills of the Poland national U-21 team compared to their direct rivals. Material and methods. Analysis of 5 national teams constituting Group 7 in the qualifying tournament was based on the data available on the website uefa.com/under21. The analysed variables included such criteria as general shooting activity, the number of successful shots and the success rate of all shots. In the comparison of the teams one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc Tukey’s multiple comparison test were applied. Results and conclusions. The analysis indicated that the shooting activity influenced the effectiveness of play of the soccer teams only in selected cases and that it influenced the effectiveness and success rate in the case of teams extremely different in terms of their sports level. The Poland U-21 team mostly did not differ from their rivals in terms of goal scoring skills.

Materiał i metody. Wyniki. Kobiety trenujące gry zespołowe charakteryzowały się wyższymi motywami identyfikacji i introjekcji (składowej motywacji zewnętrznej) oraz niższymi wynikami amotywacji niż sportowcy z grupy porównawczej. Wyszczególniono wiele dodatnich związków pomiędzy składowymi motywacji (wewnętrznej, zewnętrznej i amotywacji). Wnioski.

Background. The main aim of the study was to verify the intensity of particular motivation types and their components in women playing team sports games compared with the reference group of athletes of both sexes. Also, correlations were characterized between the motivation components in the female athletes. Material and methods. The study involved 51 women aged 18–28 playing team games (handball, basketball, and football). The research tool was the Polish adaptation of the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-28), consisting of 28 statements that specify the motives for undertaking a specific sports discipline. Results. The women playing team games were characterized by a higher level of identification and introjection (components of external motivation) and a lower level of amotivation than the reference group athletes. Many positive relations were noted between specific motivation components (internal, external motivation and amotivation). Conclusions. The results may reflect high appreciation of norms, stimuli, and information from the external environment. In the case of high competence in a sports discipline, the feeling that one meets the expectations and demands of the environment may influence the subjective satisfaction.

Background. The psychosocial prototype of the sports situation in a specific sports discipline is shaped by repetitive psychosocial standards of the situation. The most characteristic dimensions referring to a prototype sports situation include the maximization of action, motor activity, social reception, long-lasting training, and competitiveness. So far, the issue has been discussed in relation to many sports disciplines, however not yet football. Hence, the objective of the research was to determine the importance and intensity of the specific dimensions of the sports situation in football that created its psychosocial prototype. We adopted the five dimensions mentioned above among factors in our research. Material and methods. The applied research tool was the Scale of Sports Situation Dimensions. In a selected group, we employed the criterion of competence. Results and conclusions. The study showed that the most characteristic dimension of the prototype sports situation in football was social reception, followed by competitiveness, long-lasting training, motor activity, and maximization of action. As for football, there is a variation between different dimensions, so one may say that the structure of the prototype sports situation is created by two groups of dimensions.
