Jakość jest zgodnością z określonymi standardami. Zapewnienie wysokiej jakości usług zdrowotnych jest jednym z najważniejszych problemów każdego podmiotu leczniczego. Określenie standardów działań w opiece zdrowotnej stało się bowiem wymogiem do świadczenia usług na odpowiednio wysokim poziomie. Proces zapewniania jakości w placówce medycznej wymaga podejścia interdyscyplinarnego i kompleksowego. Usługi zdrowotne powinny być realizowane nie tylko zgodnie z określonymi standardami, ale również na podstawie aktualnej wiedzy medycznej oraz wartości istotnych z punktu widzenia pacjenta. Na proces zapewniania jakości składają się cztery podstawowe elementy: odpowiednie przygotowanie, realizacja, monitorowanie oraz ocena wdrażanych standardów. W konsekwencji, proces zapewnienia oraz doskonalenia jakości powinien stać się nieodzownym elementem działalności każdego podmiotu. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie systemów jakości stosowanych w ochronie zdrowia. W realizacji powyższego celu przedstawiono odpowiednie regulacje legislacyjne, a także zaproponowano etapy wdrażania systemów zarządzania jakością w podmiotach leczniczych. W artykule zwrócono także uwagę na korzyści, jakie niesie za sobą wprowadzenie zarządzania jakością w placówkach.

The quality is a compliance with certain standards. Providing quality health care services is one of the most important therapeutic problems of all heath care units. Providing the standards of activities in health care has become a requirement for the provision of services at an appropriately high level. The process of quality assurance in a medical facility requires an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach. Health services should be implemented not only in accordance with certain standards, but also on the basis of the current medical knowledge and values important for the patient. The quality assurance process consists of four basic elements: adequate preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of implemented standards. Consequently, the process of ensuring and improving quality should become an important part of the activities of health care units. This article aims to present quality systems used in health care. The basic law regulations concerning these systems and the proposed stages of implementation of quality management systems for medical facilities are discussed, to achieve the objective. The benefits of introducing the quality management in health care units are also underlined.

The article presents the findings of a study conducted to determine the extent to which media affect health-related decisions and behaviour of Warsaw inhabitants. The analysis includes also correlations between age and sex and the impact of mass media on health attitudes. The results of the study indicate that the mass media play an important role in the process of forming health behaviours. Modelling health beliefs through social campaigns proves effective. Additional and supplementary materials offered as part of campaigns are insufficient to shape behaviours of their target audience successfully. The older the individual, the more often he/she looks for data regarding health issues in the mass media. Women are the group that is more susceptible than men to modelling through contents presented in TV series. Young people treat film and television characters as authorities and role models in the field of health beliefs more frequently than adult respondents do.
