The aim of the article is to analyze the relationship between Paul Celan and Nelly Sachs on the basis of their correspondence. Reading the letters it can be seen that the authors are soul mates. This is also shown in the lyric poetry of both writers — they use different words in the same way and write mainly about the same themes.

Tina Stroheker, born in 1948, is a writer which separates her political activity from her writing activity. She writes poetry as well as prose. However, the writer attributes a calming effect to the lyric verse. Stroheker separates her poems from the political watchwords. She also tries not to show the presence of political watchwords „between the lines“ of her works. The lyric verse for her is a way of thinking about different problems, a way of fi nding her feet in reality. This is why the writer brings up natural, human problems in her poems. At the same time Stroheker works on the single words in her poems, until she catches the, in her opinion, proper sense of the discussed problems. This article, based on the work Aufenthalt, tries to show the attitude of Stroheker towards the poetry and prose. The texts published in Aufenthalt have not been published yet. This is why they can give the reader the opportunity to discover the writer anew. The literary theorists rate her among traditionalists, who are under the influence of the generation born before World War II. However in her comments Stroheker stresses her interest in the interdisciplinary, acoustic and visual in the poem and also the landmark drifts in the lyric verse, which brings her closer to the young generation born after the Second World War.

The article describes the life of a German writer – Gabriele Stötzer who spent a big part of her life in the GDR. In the text the author of the article analyses the relation of Stötzer to the term of “motherland” and to the divided Germany, which is shown in her poems. The basis for the consideration is the book by the writer „Ich bin die Frau von gestern”. Stötzer thinks about the term of freedom and the situation of an individual in a totalitarian system. In the article the role of writing in the poet’s life is emphasized. For Stötzer writing is inter alia an antidote to loneliness and constraint of freedom of a woman in an unhappy marriage.
