The relationship between the school system and job market becomes increasingly complex. This tendency originates in the tension between the growing dynamics of the changes on job market and the relative stability of the school system that acts as a bureaucratic, hierarchical, and inertial structure. The paper presents an analysis of the abovementioned opposition and conclusions about the changes in job market – school system relationships necessary for improvement of satisfying citizens’ needs.

Bieżący numer Psychologii Rozwojowej to nasza kolejna publikacja poświęcona związkom psychologii i edukacji. Zgodnie z poglądem A. Jurkowskiego (2000), psychologowie są szczególnie predestynowani do dokonania wymaganej we współczesnym świecie „redefinicji prymarnej funkcji szkoły”. Szkołę jako organizacja edukacyjna stanowi środowisko, w jakim rozwój człowieka nie tylko w dzieciństwie i adolescencji, ale także w dorosłości, może być wspomagany – jeśli oddziaływania, z którymi uczeń się tam spotyka, sprzyjają osiąganiu przez niego wyższych poziomów funkcjonowania – albo hamowany, jeśli oddziaływania te rozmijają się z jego rozwojowymi potrzebami lub ignorują jakieś jego istotne charakterystyki psychologiczne. Dla uniknięcia tej drugiej ewentualności szczególne znaczenie ma wiedza o rozwoju; i to wiedza adekwatna do rzeczywistego stanu rzeczy. W numerze zgromadzono zatem artykuły dotyczące różnych aspektów funkcjonowania człowieka w kontekście edukacyjnym, przy czym obok tekstów koncentrujących się na okresach dzieciństwa i adolescencji zamieszczone zostały także prace dotyczące osób dorosłych.

One of the EU educational priorities is the increasing of international mobility of the students and graduates starting their professional life. That priority is based on a assumption that intercultural experience is important factor of European integration; might support better knowing of others and also decreases prejudices and xenophobic attitudes. Psychological and developmental aspects of the international mobility of youth and young adults are presented in this paper. The developmental benefits and threats of the participation in exchange projects are underlined. This paper includes also practical conclusions concerning preparation of the candidates for mobility in order to decrease possibility of failure and threats for development.

Although numerous attempts have been taken to adjust it to the contemporary social, political, cultural, and economic changes, including massive systemic reform introduced in 2000, a huge discrepancy between the kind of support students receive in schools and the necessities they have to meet outside the educational system is still clearly visible. Three basic challenges: globalization, democratization, and civil society building will be discussed in relationship to educational management as main factors for educational success.
