W niniejszym artykule omówiono oboczne formy miejscownika liczby pojedynczej rzeczownika męskiego dom: (w) domu – (w) domie (a więc zgodną z normą ogólnopolską i analogiczną, powstałą w wyniku wyrównania końcówki fleksyjnej do pozostałych rzeczowników męskich twardotematowych) w gwarach polskich na Litwie, ich zakres i zasięg oraz frekwencję. Podstawą materiałową rozważań jest zbiór 235 form miejscownika lp. rzeczownika dom (domu, domie) i 3 przykłady formy doma wyekscerpowane z nagrań dokonanych w 4 podstawowych enklawach polskojęzycznych, tj. na obszarze ignalińskim, jezioroskim, kowieńskim i wileńskim.

In this article, the author presents alternative forms of the locative case in the singular of the masculine noun dom: (w) domu – (w) domie (i.e. one which complies with the general Polish standard and a parallel one, a result of levelling an inflection ending to the remaining hard-stem masculine nouns) in Polish dialects in Lithuania, their ranges and frequency. The article is based on a collection of 235 forms of the locative case singular of the noun dom (domu, domie) and 3 examples of the form doma, excerpted from recordings made in 4 major Polish-speaking enclaves i.e. Ignalin, Jeziorosk, Kaunas and Vilnius.

Artykuł dotyczy polsko-rosyjskich kontaktów językowych i ich rezultatów w polszczyźnie, zarówno w kraju, jak i poza nim, zwłaszcza na dawnych Kresach Wschodnich. Uwagę skupiono na stanie badań i problemach metodologicznych w badaniach rusycyzmów w języku polskim. Omówiono rodzaje źródeł i ich przydatność do tego typu analizy, wybór metodologii (ujęcie leksykalistyczne lub morfosemantyczne), kryteria i sposoby etymologizacji zapożyczeń rosyjskich, ich typy, chronologię, zasięg i zakres użycia oraz zróżnicowanie terytorialne i społeczne.

The paper deals with Polish-Russian language contacts and their impact on the Polish language, both within the country and abroad, especially in the Eastern Borderlands. The focus is on reviewing the current state of knowledge and discussing methodological problems of studying Russianisms in the Polish language. The author discusses available sources of data and their suitability for this type of research, selection of methodology (lexical or morphosemantic approach), criteria and ways of etymologizing Russian borrowings, types of borrowings, chronology, scope of usage, territorial and social variation.

The paper reviews the role of dialectology in preserving the dying out or endangered Polish dialects that form a major and representative part of the intangible cultural heritage. Dialectology – apart from its typical research tasks – is thus responsiblefor preserving the valuable heritage; disseminating knowledge on dialects; depicting the relations between dialects, history, and folk culture; raising the general public’s awareness of the position occupied by dialects among the varieties of Polish. Most importantly, in view of standard Polish being the prevailing variety, dialects need to be shown as embedded in family, social, local, and regional perspectives.Preserving the endangered dialects, as well as the whole intangible cultural heritage, is a multifaceted undertaking that comprises in the first place documentation, description, and scientific interpretation of dialectal material. Research on dialects need to be popularized in order to raise the language awareness of the Polish society. This in turn may indirectly inspire actions aimed at promoting local dialects, appreciating the regional speech varieties, changing the social perception of dialects by means of both formal and informal education, and finally – revitalizing the dialects that are the least known and scarcely ever used
