The actress Jolanta Lothe and the poet, playwright and translator Piotr Lachmann founded Poza Video Theatre (the name Poza [Outside] refers to the activities outside the theatrical mainstream) in 1985. It is the theatre of moving pictures, joining the acting plan and cassette plan with the broadcasting of a video camera and a film projector. It is called “the first theatre of new technologies in Poland”, which combines new aesthetic qualities of electronics with the oldest motivation of the art. LLT Poza constitutes a unique symbiosis of literature as well as the art of acting, video, fine art, music and vocal works. Its fundamental source of inspiration, its frame of reference and literary work are based on the artistic work of Helmut Kajzar (1941-1982). Kajzar was a theatre director, playwright, essayists, theatre critic and theorist. Kajzar’s texts of Star, Paternoster and Antigone – Sophocles’ transcriptions were reinterpreted as a whole or fragmentary in multimedia performances such as: Act-ress I, Act- ress II, Act-tress III, Act-ress IV, Act resses (Akt – orka I, Aktorka II, Akt – orka III, Akt – orka IV , Akt orki). The theatrical plays such as Knight Andrew (Rycerz Andrzej), Self-defence (Samoobrona), Barn (Obora), King David (Król Dawid), Phonemes (Fonemy), Clown’s Hair (Włosy Błazna) are the basis for the performance entitled Kajzar – Fragments and were later presented as the whole in Galapagos Islands (Wyspy Galapagos) in 2007. A multi-format of “I”, challenging linearity of time and clear-cut nature of space, scattering and glimmering of scenes-pictures are the inseparable features of Kajzar’s poetics. These features correspond clearly to the picture in LLT Poza, which is carried by the electronic medium (TV monitor on the stage and screen projectors). The significant aspect of LLT Poza is a discovery of multi-perspective view, determination to subject the actor’s eye and viewer’s eye while “the act of open watching” is the condition of success accepted by the theatre as the innovative method. LLT Poza is the latest computer-electronic form of transfer. It is the transfer of the most bothering moral and aesthetical issues for human being.
