This article presents the issue of trust importance growth in contemporary management. The nature of this phenomenon was introduced and thereafter the focus was on describing its peculiar case - interorganizational trust.

This paper investigates how organizational trust contributes to knowledge transfer processes and knowledge creation both directly and indirectly. The mediation analyses were used. The findings using cross-sectional data from Polish companies suggest a new way of thinking in respect of how crucial is trust to creation of knowledge unconnected to organizational memory.

In the paper the measures of the social network analysis were discussed in terms of their relevance to describe an interlocking directorates’ strategy with the suggestion of closeness and eigenvalue as best suited. The statistical analyses were presented. The analysis of the aforementioned measures’ statistical properties and their links with board size and degree revealed that it is hard to optimize them simultaneously by simply increasing a value of degree. As closeness is rather linearly linked to degree, insomuch as increasing eigenvalue, as latter requires the analysis of the network structure in order to optimize benefits to costs ratio.

The article is presenting the problems originating from the lack of trust and growing number of corruption activities. Corruption leads to failure and bankruptcy of organization as well as it impacts the economy. The authors present the statistics describing each type of the corruption activity in Poland in 2002-2005/7. It can be easily observed that the dark side of trust - corruption is growing significantly from year to year. The solution in this situation is implementing into practice trust management. This is a stricte strategic choice, because trust cannot coexist with corruption, they are exceptive. Organizational trust requires immediate elimination of corruption.

The article concerns the issue of evaluation of scientific journals and scholars by referring to the most popular scientometric measure, namely Impact Factor. Its mode of construction, as well as, the uses and misuses were highlighted.

It is also discussed its place in the New Economy in comparison with other ideal typical forms of organizations and coordinating mechanisms: market/price, hierarchy/authority. Moreover, the conceptualization of the new management idea is advanced - trust management also known as trust by management or trust-based management.

This article, with regard to the conference that took place in the Polish Academy of Science (October 2008), concerns the debate on drawbacks of current scientists activity and journal quality evaluation. Much attention is paid to the most widely used measure introduced by Garfield, namely the impact factor. Because of its construction it has got many limitations, which are discussed.
