Abstract: The article presents recent changes in the organization of access to collections in the Main Library of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University due to its reconstruction and obtaining additional space. It discusses the concept of creating book collections with free access to shelves in a building from the 1960s, with architecture typical of the structure of tripartite division of library rooms. It presents new arrangements of spaces intended for individual and group work of students as well as places of relaxation for readers. The last part of the article is devoted toelectronic library services, online use of digital resources and new tools for communicating with users during the pandemic in spring 2020.

Streszczenie: Artykuł przedstawia zmiany w organizacji udostępniania zbiorów w Bibliotece Głównej UMCS w okresie ostatnich kilku lat w związku z jej rozbudową i uzyskaniem dodatkowych powierzchni. Omówiono koncepcję tworzenia księgozbiorów z wolnym dostępem do półek w budynku pochodzącym z lat 60. ubiegłego wieku, o architekturze typowej dla zasady trójdzielności pomieszczeń bibliotecznych. Zaprezentowano nowe aranżacje przestrzeni przeznaczonych do pracy indywidualnej i grupowej studentów oraz miejsc relaksu dla czytelników.Ostatnią część artykułu poświęcono elektronicznym usługom bibliotecznym, korzystaniu online z zasobów cyfrowych oraz nowym narzędziom komunikowania się z użytkownikami w czasie pandemii wiosną 2020 roku.

The article discusses the new tasks related to working with readers in the Collection Access Department of the UMCS Main Library, which have been implemented with the Alma system. It demonstrates the changes in the rules of the collection sharing, and discusses the issues connected with the librarians’ job responsibilities and job requirements after the system implementation.
