This article sheds new light on pre-school children’s religiosity in the context of a changing environment, social and religious capital, and cultural relativism. In the authors’ opinion, children’s image of God, whilst at an age of so called ‘magical religiosity’ and at the first stage of institutionalised learning, may be changed depending on the overall social and attitudinal change in their environment. The authors question the unchangeable nature of existing studies and theories and call for an ongoing longitudinal research with an ongoing conceptualization of God’s image as perceived by children. Any change in children’s image of God may indicate social change, variations in system reproduction or an ongoing transformation of the worldview of their educational environment. The analysis of the two case studies presented in this article relate to pre-school children in Poland (2014) and Saudi Arabia (2012). The following text contributes to the social pedagogy concerning the infl uence of educational environments on children’s religiosity and is an introduction to further research in this fi eld.
