W artykule omówiono poglądy estetyczne Krzysztofa Pendereckiego wyrażone na łamach licznych czasopism, w książce kompozytora "Labirynt czasu. Pięć wykładów na koniec wieku" oraz książce P. Ćwiklińskiego i J. Ziarno "Pasja o Krzysztofie Pendereckim". Mimo widocznej, w niektórych aspektach, ewolucji - stosunek do muzyki romantycznej, awangerdy muzycznej, częściowo też koncepcja dzieła muzycznego - w ogólnym zarysie poglądy te wydają się spójne. Poświadczają też wyjątkową samoświedomość twórczą kompozytora i jego wyczulenie na procesy zachodzące w sztuce.

Aesthetic views of Krzysztof Penderecki are reconstructed in the present article. The basis of the reconstruction come from his books (for instance, "Five lectures on the end of century") and papers. In spite of the various views on music Penderecki`s concept of the musical work of art seems to be coherent and unified.
