Cyryl i Metody jako patronowie przygotowania misjonarzy – przyczynek do refleksji misjologicznej

Artykuł poświęcony został omówieniu misji Cyryla i Metodego. Autor zwraca uwagę na kilka aspektów dzieła patronów Słowiańszczyzny: historyczny, polityczny i kulturowy. Podkreśla nowatorstwo podejścia świętych braci do głoszenia słowa Bożego na ziemiach niechrześcijańskich. Wskazuje jednocześnie na analogię pomiędzy ich działaniami a wcześniejszymi przedsięwzięciami misyjnymi na Kaukazie. Zarówno Cyryl i Metody, jak i misjonarze i zakonnicy gruzińscy stosowali w liturgii nie grekę czy łacinę, lecz języki narodowe. Mieli także podobny stosunek do dwóch tradycji kulturowo-politycznych – wschodniej i zachodniej. Tworząc oryginalną, narodową wersję rytu, starali się mianowicie czerpać z obu stron, zachowując jednocześnie umiarkowany dystans do instytucji i ośrodków religijnych i politycznych. Zdaniem autora sposób działania patronów Słowiańszczyzny może być inspiracją dla współczesnych misjonarzy.

The article was devoted to the mission of Cyril and Methodius. The author draws attention to several aspects of the work of the patrons of the Slavic region: historical, political and cultural. It emphasizes the innovative approach of the holy brothers to proclaim the word of God in non-Christian lands. At the same time, it points to an analogy between their activities and previous missionary undertakings in the Caucasus. Both Cyril and Methodius, as well as Georgian missionaries and religious, used in their liturgy not Greek or Latin, but national languages. They also had a similar attitude to two cultural and political traditions - Eastern and Western. While creating the original, national version of the rite, they tried to derive from both sides, while maintaining a moderate distance from religious and political institutions and centres. According to the author, the way in which the patrons of the Slavic region operated may be an inspiration for contemporary missionaries.

Jakim słowem o Bogu na Madagaskarze? Andriamanitra versus Zanahary.

Niniejszy tekst przedstawia ujęte z perspektywy misjologicznej uwarunkowania wyboru słowa na określenie Boga w języku malgaskim. Chodzi o relację pomiędzy pojęciami Andriamanitra oraz Zanahary. Historycznie rzecz ujmując, najpierw stosowano termin Zanahary, później dominowało pojęcie Andriamanitra, które przyjęło się w tekstach liturgicznych. Dziś ponownie stosuje się termin Zanahary, również w tekstach modlitw chrześcijańskich. Zasadnicze pytanie brzmi: czy do tekstów liturgicznych należy wprowadzać pojęcia języków/dialektów poszczególnych grup etnicznych, czy też powszechnie stosować terminologię oficjalnego języka malgaskiego. W prezentowanej analizie na tło historyczne (rywalizacja plemienna, okres kolonialny) nakłada się odniesienie do teologii scholastycznej oraz do współczesnych teorii translatorskich. Analizowany przykład dowodzi, że wybór terminologii nie może być arbitralnie narzucony, zaś dawne pojęcia mogą przyjąć nowe znaczenie.

From the missiological perspective this text shows the determinants of the choice of the word determining God in Malagasy. It is about the relationship between the concepts of Andriamanitra and Zanahary. Historically, the term Zanahary was used first, then the term Andriamanitra, which was adopted in liturgical texts, dominated. Today the term Zanahary is used again also in the texts of Christian prayers. The main question is whether the notions of languages/dialects of individual ethnic groups should be introduced into liturgical texts or the terminology of the official Malagasy language should be widely used. In the presented analysis, the historical background (tribal rivalry, colonial period) overlaps with a reference to scholastic theology and contemporary translation theories. The analyzed example proves that the choice of terminology cannot be imposed arbitrarily, and old concepts can assume new meanings.
