The developed method of optimisation of land system in rural areas is mainly focused on the two directions of improvement in spatial distribution of land parcels and farms: bringing the parcels closer to their main sites as well as the area and the shape of parcels. The optimisation model was worked out by dividing of the land property integration complexes into small elementary strips and then determining the distance of these strips from the farms' sites. As a result of the optimisation procedure, the complete numerical map of the new land system was prepared, making it possible to set up the required documentation files. The labour-consuming processes of data collection, developing and resolving the model were automated by the use of suitable computer programmes, which allowed for the application of this method in practice. The principles of the optimisation of the rural land system were presented on the example of the Filipowice village, situated near Kraków. As a result of the application of the optimisation method, inter alia, the average area of a parcel increased fourfold and a parcel was brought closer to its main site by above 30% on average.
