In Warmia in some places of pagan worship quite early churches were built. Some places pagan, and especially revered by the Prussians lime groves and limes were later adopted by the Church. Typically, there developed the cult of the Virgin Mary. This transformation took place among others in the wita Lipka at least since the fifteenth century. In addition Warmia same example can be Lipa under Lubawa. As is clear from the visit carried out in the years 1667–1672, in the Meadows near Bratian was a cult place dedicated to the goddess Majumy. Prussians returning from pilgrimage to Meadows stopped also in the lime grove near Lubawa, where they rested and celebrated religious rites. Nowadays there is the Shrine of Our Lady of Leipzig. Among the ancient pagan places of worship in the area of Warmia bishop draws attention to the fact that Christianity rarely took over Water features such as lakes and rivers. The church was built by the lake Dywickie – Dewithen in 1366.
