Maciej of Krajna, a son of Stanislaw, was born in Naklo in the 1470s. In 1496 he was matriculated at the Cracow University where he obtained a degree of ma- ster of liberated arts. Then he continued his studies in Padua, where in 1507-1508 he obtained medical education. It is not known when he entered the court's servi- ce, but already in 1513 he was ennobled by Sigmund I the Old and adopted by Andrzej Teczynski and Stanislaw Chroberski of the Hatchet coat of arms. In 1514 Maciej was at the court of the last Dukes of the Masovia Piast family - Stanislaw and Janusz III, whereas in 1519 he was mentioned in the founding document of the parish church in Rajgród issued by Mikolaj Mikolajewicz Radziwill. Maciej of Krajna is most likely to have received Buzuny land estate located within the Wa- niewskie estate from M. Radziwill in c. 1519. Maciej received another land in 1524 from Sigmund I the Old and his wife Bona Sforza. This estate covered both banks of the Narew River together with servants of Molawicze and Szczochlowszczyca, all usufruct and the right to build a mill. It was there, on the left bank of the Narew River, where he built a new court mansion called Strabla, surrounded by a renaissance garden. In his residence he collected a considerable humanistic library consisting of 273 volumes, which after his death was donated to the Minor College of the Cracow University. He was a benefactor of the Bernard Monks Monastery in Tykocin. It is not known when he married Eufemia, with whom he had a daughter Barbara. Maciej of Krajna died around 1546.
