The way that wearing glasses has an effect on how a person is perceived has been a subject of many studies, usually focusing on the perceived levels of intelligence or attractiveness. I conducted some research dedicated to finding out a number of different characteristics on the perception of which glasses may carry weight, namely: the level of competence, physical prowess, healthiness, prudence, and conscientiousness, along with the usual intelligence and attractiveness. The only attribute unaffected by glasses was intelligence, and in many cases a person's sex seems to be a deciding factor.

Percepcja twarzy w okularach zainspirowała wiele badań, dotyczących głównie ocen inteligencji i atrakcyjności. Jednak nie pojawiły się badania dotyczące innych cech, co do których można zakładać, że ich odbiór zależy od obecności okularów. Zbadałam wpływ noszenia okularów na ocenę atrakcyjności, kompetencji, sprawności fizycznej, inteligencji, rozwagi, zdrowia, sumienności osoby noszącej okulary. Obecność okularów nie wpłynęła jedynie na ocenę poziomu inteligencji. W pozostałych czynnikach zaobserwowano wpływ obecności okularów. W ocenie trzech cech zależał on od płci osoby przedstawionej na zdjęciu.
