The functioning of corporate libraries is closely connected to the business activities of their respective company. In order to satisfy their users and ensure constant development and expansion of their services, corporate libraries have recognised the need for effective marketing activities targeting their own 'market', the staff of the company. Corporate libraries can only fulfill their mission if their services provide customised, relevant, accurate, reliable, quality information that can be accessed by their users in the most adequate form and in the shortest time. Corporate libraries can only prove the value and importance of their services to their company if they meet the above mentioned requirements. Carrying out effective marketing activities will help libraries get to know their users better and shape their services according to the needs of their customers.

The role of company libraries has radically changed over the last 10-15 years. Following the relatively static role of collecting and archiving the professional literature required by their authorities, they had to adopt a flexible, creative, dynamic role in information provision in order to give their company a competitive edge on the market. This case study presents with which methods, tools and shifts in approaches an 'Infoteka' based on previous corporate special libraries was successfully integrated into the knowledge management system of a large Hungarian corporation.

The first part of this study was published in the issue 3/2005 of TMT. The second part deals with the information services of Matav Rt. that are based on the OLIB integrated library system, but offer less complicated, more adequate search options for company staff than the OPAC interface used in library practice. User-friendly solutions are achieved by pre-defined query options and various viewing formats matching the special features of the information offered. The developers also made use of the options provided by the company's electronic communication system.
